When to call a veterinarian
Breathing difficulty, collapse, severe or repeated pain, neurologic signs, significant bleeding, suspected toxin exposure, choke, severe eye injury, inability to bear weight and suspected laminitis are examples where prompt professional assessment may be necessary. When in doubt, calling your veterinarian is appropriate.
Medication
Do not use medication doses, leftover prescriptions or another horse’s treatment plan solely because of information on this site. Drug choice and dosing can depend on diagnosis, weight, hydration, organ function, competition rules and other factors.
